Emergency Assistance Center
Our offices are located in the St. Martin de Porres Center at the rear of St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Hacienda Hts. Five days a week from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. EAC Director Colleen Castellano sees to the emergency needs of the homeless and those at risk. This could be a hot slice of pizza, a sack lunch, showers, hygiene kits, bus tokens, gas vouchers, motel vouchers for families and counseling and advocacy for those who need help. The clients often use the EAC office address to receive their mail.
Major funds for the Center come from cities in the San Gabriel Valley through government grants, but there are many churches, civic organizations and individuals who donate funds as well as food, hygiene kits and other necessary supplies. Without these generous contributors, the services offered would be severely curtailed. The Alcoa Foundation has helped fund the motel voucher program for the past two years.
